16th – 22nd May 2020
This year the Ballater Walking Festival takes place from the 16th to the 22nd of May, in and around Royal Deeside and the Cairngorm National Park. We have many locals and walkers from all over the world who enjoy this annual event.

The festival caters for a wide range of walking abilities, with our strenuous walks including some remote terrain, Ben MacDui and Derry Cairngorm; our moderate walks have some ascents over the lower hills and through the glens, with interesting routes; our easy walks are mainly on level ground and less strenuous but can still offer stunning views. We have introduced some Special Interest Walks, embracing heritage and archaeology, and local Health Walks which are organised independently but welcome our walkers or their partners to join them.
Our website is live at www.walkballater.com and the programme is available there.
We have an exciting Evening Entertainment programme too, from registration on the Saturday night to a ceilidh (Scottish dancing) on the Friday, with a new event ‘The Gathering’ on the Wednesday, when all walks will finish at Crathie and walkers will meet up with the other walkers and leaders and enjoy a two-course supper and live entertainment, before transport back to Ballater is provided.

The new committee are Jenny Macmillan, Catherine Watt, Carole Nicoll and Lisa MacMahon with help from Gillian Sinclair and BRD.

You can book on-line on our website – go ahead and book your walks today. We look forward to welcoming you to the festival in May.
